The driver or owner must report the accident forthwith

Forthwith means, right away, within a reasonable time, having regard to the circumstances of the accident, meaning you must report the accident as soon as you reasonably can.

The penalty for Failing to Report an Accident is a fine up to one thousand dollars and three (3) demerit points. A conviction for this offence may dramatically affect insurance rates by thousands of dollars per year.
